“just Say No” lyric video premiere!

This week we released the Official Lyric Video for Territorial’s track “Just Say No,” which premiered on FLOOD Magazine.

The video features footage of the first (and only) take which Woodley performed of this song. Producer Fury Young was lucky enough to roll camera and not cut until Woodley was finished testifying... and the song is just that; a true story of someone who struggled with addiction for much of his life. The song is irreverent and makes no apologies, just a guy telling it like it was for him.

Like he sings in the song, Woodley began using heroin as a teenager when he served in Vietnam. During the Reagan era, infamous for its "Just Say No" campaign launched by the First Lady, Woodley's troubles with drugs continued and he got into crack, a drug which had a devastating impact on the Black community well into the 1990s. All the while, hundreds of brand new prisons were built and stiffer sentences were imposed on drug offenders. This is the backdrop in which "Just Say No" takes place.

By the end of the song, Woodley "don't trust nobody who wears a suit and tie no more."

Were you or your community impacted by the crack era? Comment on Youtube.
